v.(动词)

grant的基本意思是“给予”某人以某种权力或利益,其目的在于“施予恩惠”或“体现公平”,而这种权力是可以收回的,引申可表示“承认”“认可”。

grant通常只用作及物动词,可接名词、代词或that从句作宾语,也可接双宾语,其间接宾语有时可转换为介词to的宾语。

grant常用于take sth for granted结构中,意为“认为…理所当然/是必然的”或“(因为视作当然而)对…不予重视”。用于此结构时,常用it作形式宾语,而真正的宾语由that引导放在句尾。

grant可用于被动结构。

动词grant(授予,同意)可跟双宾语。

作连接词引导从句时,granted与granting意思相同,都表示“假定”。
