adj.(形容词)

major的基本意思是“较大的,主要的”,指与其他事物相比,在大小、数量、范围、程度、重要性等方面较大。

major在句中只用于名词前作定语。

major没有比较级和最高级形式。

n.(名词)

major的意思是“少校”,多指陆军、海军、空军中军衔低于中校高于上尉的官职,是可数名词。可用作称呼语。

major的另一个意思是“专业”,指高等学校的一个系里根据科学分工或生产部门的分工把学业分成的门类,是可数名词。

v.(动词)

major用作动词时意思是“主修,专攻”,主要用在美式英语中,多与介词in连用,罕用于被动结构。
