please的基本意思是“请”,指要求某人做某事时的一种礼貌的请求,也可用来加强请求或愿望的语气,表示“对不起,请”。

please多用在祈使句中,可放在句首,也可放在句末,放在句末时, please前多有逗号。

v.(动词)

please用作动词时的意思是“(使)高兴,(使)满意”,指欲望或兴趣得到满足后产生强烈的兴奋、满意的情绪。还可指“想要,喜欢”,指对某物的渴望。

please可用作及物动词,也可用作不及物动词。用作及物动词时,后接名词、代词作宾语。

please可作“请”解,此时还可接动词不定式作宾语。

be pleased常用于表示主语的感觉或情绪,是系表结构。

if you please有两个意思; 一是表示客气的请求,常用于小事,可用please代替; 二是用于反语,表达说话人奇怪、惊讶、愤怒等感情。接受服务时则可说“Yes, please”。

please不用于进行体。

与一般too...to结构表示否定意义不同, be too pleased+to- v 不表示否定意义,而表示肯定意义。

please的过去分词pleased常用作形容词,在句中作表语。
